Willow Valley Communities’ athletes recently returned from competition at the National Senior Games in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Residents enjoyed the competition, sight-seeing around the city, and meeting fellow athletes from across the country. We applauded them for bringing home 5 Gold medals, 8 Silver medals, 3 Bronze medals, and 23 Ribbons. (See the tally of medals and ribbons won at the games below.) Events included track and field, swimming, table tennis, badminton, bowling, and more.
Physical activity combined with a healthy lifestyle is said to be the “fountain of youth”. Exercise is good for your body whether you like to enter into competition with others or just enjoy finding fun ways to stay active. It’s never too late to begin a new physical activity and get in the game.

The National Senior Games is a non-profit organization dedicated to motivating active adults to lead a healthy lifestyle through the senior games movement. The Games, a 20-sport, biennial competition for men and women 50 and over, is the largest multi-sport event in the world for seniors. National competition is held every other year in a different city. Member Organizations hold annual games with qualifying competitions in the year preceding The Games. Athletes that meet specific criteria while participating in the State Senior Games qualify to participate.
